Join Ballet Academy of Silicon Valley in this year’s production of The Nutcracker, a South Valley holiday tradition for over a decade! A wonderful ballet for the entire family, The Nutcracker is the perfect way to introduce young children to the power and beauty of classical dance. Tchaikovsky’s magical score, fantastic scenery and vibrantly theatrical staging combine to create one of the most visually stunning productions of The Nutcracker.

Audition Process For non-BASV registered DAncers
Sign up for an audition time slot here, and we will send confirmation of your day and time. Come prepared to perform a 1 min. performance piece in a Classical Ballet of your choice. Bring your music that can be played via AUX cord. We will take a head shot and have a simple interview before you dance. Participation fees are also due at this time.
All who audition will receive a role in our production.
Please note, if you are already registered for BASV, an audition will not be required. Your teachers will evaluate you during class in order to cast your role(s).
If you have any additional questions about our audition process, please contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone at 408.607.9100.
All dancers will be cast in at least 1 or more roles. The cast list will be posted Friday, October 18th.
Each cast member is required to pay a non-refundable $175.00 participation fee payable to Ballet Academy of Silicon Valley. If two family members are auditioning, the second is $150.00. Any additional family members will pay a single family participation fee of $400.00 (3+ family members participating). This fee will be due on the date of audition. If you are a registered BASV dancer that attends classes regularly, you will not be required to pay a participation fee. You will only have minimum costume rental fees.
The participation fee covers all rehearsals, the cost of maintaining existing costumes and the making of new costumes and props, theater rental, rehearsal space rental, and paying a number of theater professionals required to put on the show. A select few scholarships are available upon request and review by BASV Director & staff.
Tickets to see the performance will be sold at $20.00 each. Dancers will need to buy a nude leotard, tights and shoes for the performance, use their own makeup, and have proper hair pins, nets, and spray.
The family is responsible to have dancers at all rehearsals and performances. We request that families volunteer for small jobs that help with the production, ex: ticket takers, dressing room assistance, child care for the pre-ballet & primary classes, backstage prop handlers, advertising, etc.
Rehearsal time will vary depending on the role(s) the dancer is cast in. Regular rehearsals will be on Thursdays and Saturdays. Some rehearsals will take place during regular class time.
Note: During the week of the show, there will be a special rehearsal schedule. The final Rehearsal Week will be from December 16th - 20th. Specific rehearsal times that week are to be determined. Check back soon for updates!
