Our dress code helps create a focused, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for every dancer. A consistent uniform ensures that BASV teachers will be able to easily see students’ alignment and positioning during class time. Ballet level uniform colors help organize classes and rehearsals while fostering a sense of unity and belonging. A proper ballet uniform also minimizes distractions, encourages discipline and confidence, and ensures dancers are dressed appropriately for movement.
The BASV Dress Code is required for all classes. Throughout the season, we also enjoy special "Free Dress" days and designated rehearsals when dancers may wear appropriate dancewear of their choice.

Additional Boys Guidelines
Boys should match their shoe color according to their choice of white socks or black/gray footed tights.
A dance belt is required for dancers ages 12 and older. It is recommended to begin wearing one at age 10.
Warm-Ups & Accessories
Fitted ballet sweaters or knit warm-ups may be worn during the beginning of class and must be removed after barre.
No jewelry or smart watches are permitted in class. Small stud earrings are acceptable.
No undergarments should be worn under leotards. A nude (skin color) sports bra may be worn if needed.
All dancers must wear some kind of cover-up when arriving and leaving the studio. Students may not leave the studio in just their leotard and tights.
Adult Ballet
Adult Ballet dancers may choose attire based on personal preference, as long as it is comfortable and allows for ease of movement during class. Canvas ballet flats are required, and hair should be secured away from the face.
PBT/Conditioning & Lyrical/Modern Classes
Dancers must wear black leggings or black fitted shorts.
Ukrainian Folk Dance & Character Classes
Girls should wear black Sansha canvas character shoes with a soft split sole (sometimes labelled as “teacher shoes”).
Boys should wear black Sansha canvas jazz boots.

Additional leotards, skirts, dance shirts, and tights are available to purchase at the studio or on our web store.
Ballet shoes may be purchased here. Dancers may be fit for shoes in the studio upon request.

We are committed to providing a safe, organized, and positive environment where every dancer can thrive. Below are highlights of our studio policies. Complete policies, waivers, and enrollment agreements are provided during registration and are available at any time in the Parent Portal.
Tuition for our Conservatory Track is based on our Fall & Spring semester (August through May) and divided into 10 equal monthly payments.
Tuition is automatically processed each month using your payment method on file.
Tuition is non-refundable except as outlined in our Withdrawal and Happiness Guarantee policies.
Accounts must remain current for participation in performances and future enrollment.
The annual Registration Fee will be applied for each dancer and is valid August-July of the current season.
BASV is currently accepting Ocean Grove Funds.
We want every dancer to love their ballet experience!
New students may experience their first 4 classes before fully committing. If your dancer decides ballet is not the right fit during this introductory period, simply let us know and we will cancel enrollment with no further tuition obligation.
Attendance & Arrival
Students should arrive 10 minutes before class to prepare and warm up.
Students should arrive dressed according to our Dress Code and ready for class.
Students should check in upon arrival using the BASV Check-In Kiosk in the lobby.
Students who arrive late should wait by their classroom door until their teacher invites them to enter.
Students should be picked up within 15 minutes after class ends.
Parents of dancers under the age of 6 must remain at the studio during class.
Studio Expectations
Only water is permitted in the studios.
Dry snacks are permitted. No gum at any time.
No running or horseplay in the lobby.
Please help maintain a quiet, distraction-free lobby while classes are in session.
Students are expected to demonstrate respect for their teachers, classmates, and studio by following directions, caring for studio equipment, and practicing proper ballet etiquette.
New dancers will be placed in classes based on age and experience. Some dancers may require a private assessment to determine proper placement.
All dancers will be evaluated each season in Spring in order to best recommend their class placement for the following year.
Conservatory Tracks students will have a formal evaluation and receive a personalized report on their progress. Foundations students will be recommended placement by their teacher.
Class placement is determined by the Artistic Director and faculty based on age, experience, technical development, and overall readiness. Recommendations may change throughout the season as dancers grow.
BASV presents two optional theater productions each season in December (The Nutcracker) & May/June (Spring Show).
Students are encouraged to participate as performances are an important part of their training. All students will be required to respond to a performance participation confirmation twice a year.
Performance information, rehearsal schedules, volunteer opportunities, and costume details are shared throughout the season and on the Performance Hub.
Conservatory Track tuition includes performance fees & costume rentals. Foundations Track will have additional fees to participate.
